A plea for an effective organization of Jews to combat Hitlerism was made by Edward Cahn before the Talk of the Town Club.
Asserting that before Gentile cooperation comes, Jews themselves must lead the way in the struggle against anti-Semitism, the lecturer pointed out that the danger was facing Jews in America and elsewhere as much as in Germany because “today the world is one, it is suffering from a depression and the Jew is likely to be chosen as the scapegoat.
“While we cannot expect armed intervention on behalf of the Jews, we can look to the economic boycott to open the eyes of the people of Germany to the folly of Hitlerism.”
