A Polish military officer who was stripped of his rank after the 1967 Six-Day War because he was Jewish was given back his bars. Poland’s defense minister, Jerzy Szmajdzinski, gave the lieutenant bars to Chaim Ben-Ya’akov while on a visit to Israel.
