A prominent Republican Jewish lawmaker is considering switching parties. Rep. Benjamin Gilman (R-N.Y.), former chair of the House International Relations Committee and one of two Republican Jews in the House of Representatives, is interested in switching to the Democratic Party because of a redistricting proposal in New York state.
