A recommendation that fervently Orthodox yeshiva students in Israel decide for themselves whether they will serve in the army is being criticized for perpetuating a double standard. Knesset member Ra’anan Cohen of the One Israel bloc said any solution must be based on equality, while Knesset member Yosef Lapid of the secular Shinui Party said he plans to submit a bill to draft all yeshiva students.
