A Reform rabbi in Belarus said a proposed new law on religion is “reminiscent of the days of the Soviet Union.” Speaking in New York on Wednesday, Nelly Shulman said she is “mildly concerned” about the legislation, which, among other provisions, requires all religious groups to register with the state.
