A resolution expressing the solidarity of British Jewry with Israel in the current Middle East crisis and warning against attempts to “appease” Arab rulers was approved unanimously last night at an emergency meeting convened by the Board of Deputies of British Jews. Chief Rabbi Immanuel Jakobovitz and representatives of 14 major British Jewish organizations joined in issuing the call. The resolution demanded immediate and effective action to maintain the Egyptian-blockaded Tiran Strait as an international wayerway for ships and cargoes of all nations.
