A rosy picture of Jewish life in Hungary was painted by Count Bethlen, Prime Minister of Hungary, when interviewed here by the representative of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
The position of the Jewish population in Hungary is improving he stated. There are no restrictions except the numerus clausus, which he hopes, however, will soon be abolished. As to the unwillingness of the Hungarian government to legalize the Zionist movement in the country, the Prime Minister stated that he acted in accordancy with the statement of influential Hungarian Jews who declared that they do not want a separate national movement.
Mose Frankle, president of Anshe Emethe Temple congregation of Youngstown, O., presided at the ground breaking ceremonies for the new $100,000 temple.
It is expected the cornerstone will be laid in May.
Anshe Emethe congregation has been worshipping in the educational and social building known as the Center, which was built when the congregation was organized four years ago. There are now 300 families holding membership.
Rabbi Eugene Kohn is rabbi of the congregation.
