A Russian court barred a Pentecostal church from operating in a town in Siberia. In making the ruling, the court relied on a controversial 1997 religious freedom law that has been criticized by human rights groups. The law allows local authorities to decide whether religions that have not been in existence in Russia for at least 15 years can operate locally.
