A senior member of the French Resistance testified that Maurice Papon was not a member of the anti-Nazi movement. Jean-Pierre Bloch, a Jewish Resistance member, said Papon’s name was not on the roster of the group’s members. Papon, on trial before a French court on charges of ordering the arrest of deportation of 1,560 Jews from wartime France, has repeatedly maintained that he was a member of the Resistance.
