A small grass fire was identified as the cause of a blaze that destroyed a Jewish yacht club in Toronto. Sunday’s fire destroyed the Island Yacht Club, including a lounge filled with trophies and memorabilia of the club’s 52-year history. The Toronto landmark was started in 1952 by members of the city’s Jewish community who had been refused membership in the Royal Canadian Yacht Club and were determined to start a sailing club of their own.
