A statement issued late this evening by the British Colonial Office declared that “the situation is reported well in hand. All is quiet in Jerusalem and Jaffa. The country is still unsettled, continuous organized attacks being carried out by Arabs on numerous scattered Jewish colonies. No attempts so far have been made at interference with essential services.

FIGHTING AND LOOTING CONTINUE IN HAIFA

Fighting and looting continued in Haifa throughout the day Tuesday. Three more Jews were wounded. Jewish shops were looted: Baron Edmund de Rothschild’s flour mills, Grand Moulins, were attacked. The famous wine cellars of Friedman and Company were destroyed by fire.
