A staunchly conservative Christian group is calling on members of the U.S. Congress to boycott next week’s National Prayer Breakfast because Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat is scheduled to attend. “If the intention of this poorly conceived invitation was to reach out to people of other faiths, there are Islamic leaders much better suited to the occasion,” the Traditional Values Coalition said in a statement, becoming the latest in a growing list of evangelical Christian groups to oppose Arafat’s presence at the annual breakfast.
