A Torah scroll, a gift of the Brotherhood Synagogue, Congregation Beth Achim of Manhattan, has been flown to remote Ambober in Ethiopia where it will be read for the first time on Simchat Torah in the Beta Israel synagogue there. Up to now, their Biblical readings were in Geez, an ancient Ethiopic language.
