A total of $200,000 is being sought by the United Palestine Appeal Campaign in a drive to be pushed throughout the Dominion. The sum is to be used to aid refugee children from Germany.

The campaign will get under way Sunday night, April 15, when Prime Minister R. B. Bennett will deliver an address over a nationwide radio network. A. J. Freiman, president of the Zionist Organization of Canada, will also speak.

In hundreds of Jewish communities and towns throughout the country the drive will be initiated at mass meetings and banquets. Arrangements are now under way. The metropolitan dailies, public leaders both Jewish and non-Jewish, have pledged their support. The Montreal Gazette, The Halifax Herald, The Regina Leader Post, The Hamilton Spectator, The Winnipeg Free Press, The Ottawa Citizen and the Ottawa Journal have avowed their intention of aiding the campaign in every possible way.

World Jewish leaders, including Nahum Sokolow, Dr. Chaim Weizmann, now in Palestine; Lord Melchett, M. M. Ussishkin and others, have cabled Mrs. A. J. Freiman, chairman of the campaign, asking the cooperation of the Jews in Canada in the drive.

CAMPAIGN WIDESPREAD

Toronto, under the leadership of Mrs. David Dunkelman, chairman for Ontario and Henry S. Rosenberg are making its own plans. Other members of the campaign executive are Moses Gelber, David Dunkelman, Rabbi Samuel Sachs, William Agranove, Selig Gross, Elias Pullan, Bernard Vise, Hertzel Rotenberg, Mrs. A. B. Bennett, Mrs. H. S. Rosenberg, Rabbi Harry J. Stern of Temple Emanu-El, Montreal, who will be the guest speaker at the banquet; Dr. Alphons Goldschmidt, German exile; Harry Harbour, president of B’nai B’rith, Mark G. Cohen and Daniel Gordon.

The Winnipeg committee is headed by A. M. Shinbane, president of Western Zionist Region; Dr. S. H. Churchill, president of the Zionist Council, and Mrs. Rose Rady, vice-president of Dominion Hadassah. Rabbi Sonderling of New York will be guest speaker at the banquet to be attended by Mrs. A. J. Freiman, campaign chairman, who is leaving on April 7 to assist with the campaign in Western Canada.

Vancouver has just formed a new Zionist Council of which K. Katznelson is chairman and H. Freeman secretary. Rabbi Langh, of Seattle, is to be the guest speaker at the Vancouver banquet.

In Montreal the campaign will open with a banquet at the Windsor Hotel. The guest speaker will be Dr. Abraham Leon Sachar, director of the Hillel Foundation and instructor at the University of Illinois. The Monteal officers of the campaign include:
