A total of 3,288 Jewish children last year attended the seven Jewish day schools operating in the Montreal area, it was reported here at a meeting of the Council of Jewish Educational Institutions of Greater Montreal.
This represented 21. l percent of all Jewish children attending schools. The remainder, 12,279 attend Protestant schools under the city’s system of paying for public education of children in schools of religious denominations. The Jewish schools had a combined deficit of $447,000 last year.
