A two-hour shut-down of all Jewish-owned enterprises in Montevideo during the week-end climaxed the local Jewish community’s protest against the execution of Dov Gruner and three other Palestinian youths.
Large placards were placed in shop windows inscribed: “In Memory of Dov Gruner and Companions Hanged by the British in the Holy Land.” The Zionist Organization and other Jewish groups took space in the city’s leading newspapers to protest the executions.
