A U.S. lawmaker wants U.S. relations with Libya to be contingent on the settlement of compensation for Libyan Jews. Rep. Shelley Berkley (D-Nev.) wants the Bush administration to halt normalization of relations with Libya until Jews are compensated for property confiscated by the regime of Muammar Gadhafi after they were forced to flee the country because of religious and political persecution.
