A visiting Zionist official from Jerusalem has suggested that the South African Jewish community establish a coordinating body for Jewish education on a national basis which could function without infringing on the present regional autonomy. Chaim Finkelstein, head of the World Zionist Organization’s Department of Education and Culture, suggested this during an address to the Board of Jewish Education in Capetown. He also said he was impressed by what he had seen of Jewish education in South Africa.
