A Web-based database of immigrant arrivals at New York’s Ellis Island from 1892 to 1924 is turning away more than 85 percent of potential users, according to The New York Times. Officials with the Statue of Liberty – Ellis Island Foundation, which created the database for ellisislandrecords.com, admit they underestimated the numbers who would wish to access the site.
