A yeshiva student in Baltimore who tentatively committed to play basketball at the University of Maryland told the school he does not want to play games during Shabbat. The school’s coaches told Tamir Goodman, who is currently a high school junior, that they would try to honor his request. Because of college basketball regulations, Goodman is not allowed to make a binding commitment until next fall.
