Abraham Cahan, editor of the “Forward,” and Mrs. Cahan, were the guests of honor Thursday at a luncheon given by the National Workmen’s Committee, which is carrying on the Gewerkschaften Campaign, on the occasion of their return from Europe and Palestine.
More than a hundred leaders in working circles attended. A. Shiplacoff presided. Addresses were delivered by Mr. Cahan. Dr. Schmarya Levin, and A. Hamlin. Secretary of the National Workmen’s Committee.
The Young Men’s and Young Women’s Hebrew Association of Elizabeth, N. J., will celebrate the laying of the cornerstone of its new building today. Judge. Abe J. David will preside, and Dr. Mordecai Soltes, director of Jewish Extension Education of the Jewish Welfare Board, Mayor John F. Kenah and Eric H. Ewertz. president of the local Y. M. C. A., will be the speakers.
