Abner Bregman, a member of the New York Stock Exchange, has been elected president of United Hias Service, it was announced here today. He succeeds Murray I. Gurfein who became chairman of the United Hias executive committee.
Mr. Bregman, who has been active in Jewish relief and rescue work since 1935 when he joined the board of directors of the Joint Distribution Committee, has been a member of the board of directors of United Hias and its predecessor agencies since 1950. He served as the agency’s executive committee chairman during the past year.
