A total of 499,793 Jewish men, women and children entered Israel since the proclamation of statehood, it was announced here today–the third anniversary of the United Nations Palestine partition decision–at a meeting of the Parliamentary Labor Committee.
The committee also heard that 37,000 Jews were still housed in immigrant reception camps. High praise for the Israel Army’s efforts to aid new arrivals who have recently been transferred to “work villages” was expressed at the meeting, as well as in all sections of the Israel press.
