Abraham Cahan, editor of the Jewish Daily Forward, and dean of Jewish journalists in America, was honored yesterday at a luncheon tendered him on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of his arrival in this country from his native Russia. Mr. Cahan has been editor of the Forward for forty-five years.
William Green, president of the American Federation of Labor, was the chief speaker at the luncheon. Alexander Kahan, manager of the Forward, who presided, presented Mr. Cahan with a leather-bound copy of a special supplement to today’s Forward in which the highlights of the veteran editor’s career are covered in articles in Yiddish and English.
