Many thousands of Jews and Poles attended funeral services in Warsaw this weekend for the late Abraham Morewski, considered the foremost Yiddish actor in Poland and Russia, who died at the age of 78, according to dispatches received here from the Polish capital today.

Mr. Morewski practically dominated the Yiddish stage in Russia and Poland for about 60 years, spanning the period from Czarist days to the present. As far back as 1910, he performed in a play witnessed by the then Czar Nicholas II–a rare achievement for a Jewish actor. He was one of the most brilliant members of the pre-war Yiddish Folk Theater in Vilna. He also played one year in the Yiddish Art Theater in New York of which the late Maurice Schwartz was the director.
