Abram S. Berg Jr., Jewish Communal Leader, Dies at Age 69

Funeral services were held here today for Abram S. Berg Jr., a Jewish communal leader associated with the National Jewish Welfare Board and the American Jewish Committee who died Sunday at the age of 69. He belonged to a distinguished family which numbered among its members Dr. Cyrus Adler and Judge Mayer Sulzberger. Berg was a member of the JWB’s board of directors and a past president of its Middle Atlantic Region, a longtime member of its Armed Forces and Veterans Services Committee and chairman of the board of the JWB-USO Philadelphia Armed Services and Veterans Committee. He was a past president of the Philadelphia chapter of the American Jewish Committee and a former director of the Federation of Jewish Agencies of Greater Philadelphia.
