Fourteen new members, including scholars, journalists, teachers and rabbis, were inducted into the Jewish Academy of Arts and Sciences at a meeting of the group held Sunday night at Temple Rodeph Sholem.
Daniel Frohman, veteran theatrical man and president of the Actors Fund of America, who became an honorary fellow, was the only speaker. Others who were elected honorary fellows were Professor Franz Boas, Rabbi H. Pereira Mendes, Professor Morris R. Cohen and Franklin Pierce Adams, “F. P. A.”
Members elected include Rabbi Louis I. Newman, Professor Milton Handler, Dr. Elias Lieberman, Dr. Hyman Halpern, Robert B. Brodie, Rabbi Israel Goldstein, Rabbi David de Sola Pool, Dr. Jacob Greenberg and Morris Ryskind, one of the authors of “Of Thee I Sing.”
