According to an estimate of Jewish leaders here, fifty carloads of matzoth containing 800 pud each, will be the minimum required to meet the needs of the Jewish population in Russia during the coming Passover. Fifty-five per cent of the shipments will go to the Ukraine, twenty-five per cent to White Russia and thirty per cent to the scattered communities in the Union of Socialist Soviet Republics.

The newspaper asserts that the importation of matzoth provides the non-Jewish counter-revolutionists with a new weapon against the Jews. The “Emes” urges the Jewish workers to protest against the importation of matzoth. It resents especially the statement of Mr. Broides that 60,000 poor Jews in Moscow want matzoth.

An unconfirmed report current here states that the invalids’ cooperative in Moscow will bake matzoth which will be obtainable at twenty roubles per pud.
