Achievement of “human rights and fundamental freedoms for all men and women, without distinction as to race, language or religion,” (##)one of the five basic objectives of the world security charter adopted at San Francisco, President Truman told the Senate today in a plea for prompt ratification of the historic document.

The charter “seeks to achieve universal respect for and observance of” basic rights and freedoms, as well as the removal of the “economic and social causes of international conflict and unrest,” the President added.
