Rumors were current today that Jewish prisoners in the Acre jail have resumed their hunger strike because they have still not been released under bail, as promised by the High Commissioner of Palestine. These rumors were, however, not confirmed.
Unrest among the prisoners reached a high point today because the question of their bail had not been settled. The government, which requested that the bail bonds be signed by persons owning real estate, today agreed to make concessions and expressed readiness to accept the signatures of persons who own the flats in which they reside but are not actually landlords.
The Jewish community of Haifa may today complete bail arrangements for sixty of the prisoners, but even if the arrangements are completed the prisoners will not be released before tomorrow.
