Acting High Commissioner Luke, in a written reply to the joint memorandum of the Jerusalem Zionist Executive and other Jewish organizations submitted to him during their interview on Sunday, declared that he has nothing to add to what he had said during the interview.

At that time he stated first that the official communique of the government to which the Jewish delegation took exception was composed on the ground of the information then available, secondly, that the Jewish demands concerning the Wailing Wall will be given consideration and, thirdly, that it is necessary that a calmer mood prevail, otherwise the solution of the problem will be impossible.

The Palestine Arab Executive, anti-Zionist body, submitted a protest memorandum to the Palestine government for permitting the demonstration of Jewish youth before the Wailing Wall on Tisha B’ab, August 15. Here is the record of the Arab assaults in Jerusalem on Tuesday.

In the morning a Yemenite beadle, a Jewish school girl, and a student of the Yeshiva Torath Chaim were attacked and beaten with sticks. The building of the Yeshiva was stoned.

In the afternoon a 60-year-old Jew was beaten and wounded in the Old City. In the evening a Jew was wounded near the Nablus gate.

On Wednesday morning a group of Jewish workers riding on bicycles toward Mount Scopus were attacked by Arab shepherds.

It is apparent that Arab agitators are spreading rumors among the Moslem population that the Jews are attacking the Arabs and that they intend “to capture the Western Wall and the Mosque of Omar.”

Among those beaten by the police during the funeral of Abraham Mizrachi, 17-year-old Bukhara Jewish youth who died of wounds inflicted by Arabs, were Rabbi Jacob Berman, Mizrachi school inspector, and Mr. Braudo of the staff of the Zionist Executive. Two sexagenarians were among the wounded.

Steps are under way for expressing the indignation of the Jewish population in New York City at the attitude of the Palestine government in the Wailing Wall controversy which resulted in the deplorable events.

A conference was held last night at the Pennsylvania Hotel, called on the initiative of the League of Zionist Revisionists. Another conference was called by the New York Zionist Region, of which Leo Wolfsohn is chairman. Representatives of all Jewish organizations, congregations and rabbinical bodies were invited to attend the meeting on Monday, August 26, at the Hotel Pennsylvania. A large Jewish demonstration in New York is being planned.

The will of Emile Berliner, inventor of Washington, filed for probate today revealed an estate valued at more than $1,500,000. The petition shows that the inventor owned Real estate assessed at $112,573 and had bonds, stocks and personal property estimated at $1,415,000.

Under the terms of the will, Mr. Berliner left $100,000 and the property at 1464 Columbia Road Northwest, to the Bureau of Health Education. Edgar M. Berliner and Herbert S. Berliner, both of Montreal were excluded, the inventor pointing out that they had been amply provided for. The widow and four children. Hannah D. Sanders, Louise B. Frank. Henry A. Berliner and Alice Blubin, all of Washington, share in the residue of the estate.
