A Chanukah celebration and musicale will be held at the Brooklyn Jewish Center, 667 Eastern Parkway, Tuesday night. The occasion will be instrumental in augmenting the Infant Welfare Fund, which provides for all Child Welfare Work in Palestine. Mrs. Laura J. Liebow, Chairman of the fund committee, has spared no effort in procuring the services of speakers and talent for the evening.
Mrs. Joseph Horowitz, vice-president of the Brooklyn Chapter of Hadassah, held a cultural meeting at her home, 225 Eastern Parkway, recently. The guest speaker was Mrs. D. Greenberg, National vice-president of Hadassah.
A professional group of Brooklyn Hadassah has been organized by Mrs. A. Slomka. Mrs. Bacaret, at whose home the meeting took place, is temporary president. Other officers will be appointed at the next meeting which will be held at the Brooklyn Hadassah office, 26 Court Street, Tuesday evening.
SISTERHOOD ANNIVERSARY
The Sisterhood of the Congregation B’nai Jeshurun, which is forty years old, will hold an anniversary celebration lasting three days beginning Saturday afternoon, Dec. 16.
On Saturday afternoon a tea will be served at the Community Center House, 270 West 89th Street, where Mrs. Rebecca Kohut, president of the World Congress of Jewish Women, will speak.
On Sunday morning a symposium will be held in the synagogue, 88th Street and Broadway. Speakers will include Mrs. Rose Halprin, president of the State Federation of Women’s Clubs, and Dr. Israel Goldstein.
On Monday afternoon, Dr. Stephen S. Wise, who was an organizer of the Sisterhood, will speak.
BRONX MEETING
Women residing in the Bronx will be mobilized by the Women’s Division of the American Jewish Congress to combat the spread of Nazi propaganda in this country.
At a breakfast meeting held at temporary headquarters, 1746 Undercliff Avenue, the Bronx, a committee to enlist members was formed with Mrs. Arthur I. Levine and Mrs. M. Levien as chairmen.
A rally is planned for January 23.
JAMAICA HADASSAH
The Jamaica Chapter of the Hadassah will hold a luncheonette and bridge Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 13, in the local Jewish center.
Mrs. Judith Epstein, national secretary of the organization, who recently returned from Palestine, will speak.
