The shortage of dentists is so acute in Israel that the Israel Government has granted licenses to practice dentistry to 400 dental technicians, according to Dr. B. Schrotter, chairman of the World Federation for an Israeli Dental School.
Speaking to a meeting of a dental group of the Friends of the Hebrew University today, Dr. Schrotter said that the average age of Israeli dentists is almost 60 and that no immigrant dentist has qualified later than 1936 when European schools were closed to them. The dental group has undertaken to raise 5,000 pounds by the end of the year in order to provide equipment for a Dental School soon to be opened by the Hebrew University.
