A number of Germany’s foremost scholars and educators today attended the opening meeting of the newly established Commission for Political Education, a group initiated by Dr. Gerhard Schroeder, Minister of the Interior;, to draw up plans for improving the political education of German youth.
Dr. Konrad Adenauer, Chancellor of the Federal Republic, addressed the scholars at their initial meeting. He urged the commission to devise new curricula for the German schools, with particular emphasis on “the disastrous effects of the Nazi totalitarian system and the persecution of the Jews.”
