Administration leaders today decided to attempt to block in the House Rules Committee the proposal to continue the Dies Committee for another year.

After a conference with President Roosevelt, Rules Committee Chairman Adolf Sabath said he felt that any more money appropriated for the Dies Committee would be money “thrown away.” The Committee, he said, would defer action on the resolution to continue the un-American activities investigation until Dies, who has been reported in ill health, returns to Washington from Texas.
