Adolf Hitler dolls reportedly are on sale in some Ukraine supermarkets. The figure stands more than a foot high and comes with movable arms to reproduce Hitler’s infamous salute. Reportedly the action-figure dolls, which will be mass marketed this summer, are being sold in Kiev.
The manufacturer was unnamed in published reports. Consumers will have a choice of outfits, including “early days Adolf†sporting a brown shirt and jodhpurs, and “wartime Adolf†wearing a gray, double-breasted tunic, black trousers and simple Iron Cross medal. The $200 figure has a spare head “with a kind expression on it,†according to London’s Daily Mail, glasses and several changes of clothes. It comes in a presentation box with the dates of Hitler’s birth and death. Most Nazi images officially are illegal in Ukraine, as are any positive depictions of the Nazi regime. The Jewish community of Ukraine has expressed concern about the dolls. Recent reports by experts and Jewish activists show increasing xenophobia and racism in Ukraine, with some extremists supporting racism similar to that of Nazi Germany under Hitler.
