A program of adult education, on an intensive basis, has been inaugurated by the United Hebrew Schools of Detroit.
The adult education program is being sponsored by the United Hebrew Schools in co-operation with the Young Israel groups of Detroit. Bernard Isaacs, superintendent of the schools, and Irving Schlussel, chairman of the Young Israel education committee, are in charge of arranging the curriculum. Classes will be conducted at the Philadelphia-Byron Talmud Torah Tuesday evenings.
Classes for adults will be conducted in Hebrew, Yiddish, contemporary Anglo-Jewish writers, Jewish history and current events, Bible, Jewish customs and rituals, and a course in Zionism.
Classes for the adolescent will also be introduced by the United Hebrew Schools for the first time this year, these courses to be given in co-operation with the Alumni Association of the schools, also on Tuesday evenings.
All classes are to be under the direct supervision of the faculty of the United Hebrew Schools, the instructors serving in a volunteer capacity.
