Advisory Committee for New York U.j.c. Formed of Prominent Jews

Appointment of an advisory committee composed of prominent lay and rabbinical leaders in Jewish philanthropic and communal activities, to cooperate with the officers of the United Jewish Campaign of New York, was announced by David M. Bressler, vice-chairman of the campaign.

Judge Otto A. Rosalsky will serve as chairman of the New York Advisory Committee. The other members are Abraham N. Adelson, David A. Ansbacher, Commodore Louis D. Beaumont, Gregori Benenson, Herman Bernstein, Irving Blumenthal, Frederick Brown, Sidney S. Cohen, Edward R. Cohn, Hon. Samuel Dickstein, Henry A. Dix, Bernhard Edelhertz, Hon. Abram I. Elkus, Morris Engelman, Harry Fischel, Bernard Flexner, Joseph Frankel, Col. Michael Friedsam, Meyer Gillis, S. Herbert Golden, Albert Goldman, Morris E. Gossett, Dr. Louis I. Harris, Hon. Gustave A. Hartman, Joseph C. Hyman, Dr. Harry E. Isaacs, Henry Ittelson, Alexander Kahn, Leon Kamaiky, Hon. Abraham Kaplan, Dr. Herbert M. Kaufman, Arthur F. Frakeur, Samuel C. Lamport, Leon Lauterstein, Hon. The following rabbis, as presidents of the respective rabbinical associations of the city, will serve on the committee: Dr. Max Drob, Rabbinical Assembly of the Jewish Theological Seminary; Dr. Herbert S. Goldstein, Union of Orthodox Congregations of America; Dr. Israel Goldstein, New York Board of Jewish Ministers; Dr. Rudolph Grossman, Association of Reform Rabbis of New York; Dr. M. S. Margolies, and Dr. Israel Rosenberg. Union of Orthodox Rabbis of America; Dr. Elias L. Solomon, United Synagogue of America.

Mrs. Jacob H. Schiff, honorary chairman of the Women’s Division for the drive, and Mrs. Abram I. Elkus, active chairman of the women workers, will also act as members of the campaign advisory committee.

Nearly $100,000 was raised in Louisville, Ky., at the opening of that city’s drive for the United Jewish Campaign. The opening function was a mass meeting at Temple Adath Israel, at which over one-third of the State’s quota of $250,000 was contributed. Louisville’s quota is $150,000. David A. Brown delivered the principal address.

Col. Fred Levy reported the progress of the United Jewish Campaign throughout Kentucky.
