Thirty aged Jews in this country, all former Austrians forced to flee their land during the Nazi occupation, will be placed in Jewish homes for the aged in this country through funds derived from the Austrian Government’s allocations of monies set aside by Austria to compensate for heirless property left by victims of Nazism, it was announced here today.
The announcement was made by Dr. Gustav Jellinek, president of the American Federation of Jews from Austria, He has just returned from Vienna, where he negotiated this agreement with the Austrian Government. A total of about $175,000 has been allocated by the Austrian Government from the heirless property funds to aid aged Jews now living in the United States who migrated to escape the ravages of the Nazi regime.
