The Palestine government has notified the Jewish Agency that in future it will not permit the Agency to enable visitors in Palestine who find permanent employment there to remain in the c#ry as settlers.
In a statement issued today by the immigratoin department of the Jewish Agency, it is emphasized that negotiations with the government “have resulted in no change in its attitude.” The statement reads:
“The department has hitherto retained a limited number of permits from its labor schedule to enable visitors to the country who subsequently found employment, to remain as permanent residents. The department had issued certificates in such cases only very rarely and after very careful examination into the economic position of the prospective settler and his family obligations.
“Last month the department was notified by the government that in future the government would not authorize the granting of certificates to tourists of this category. The government considers that this is not fair to those candidates awaiting permits patiently abroad.
