Not all leaders of the non-Zionists in Germany have been won over to the Jewish Agency point of view, it became apparent when a vote on the question caused a rift in the Berlin Kehillah Council.
At a meeting of the Council held Wednesday evening, Dr. Ismar Freund announced the decision of the Kehillah Board to delegate two representatives to the special committee now being formed for the purpose of designating German Jewry’s representatives on the extended Jewish Agency. The delegates appointed are Gerson Simon, vice-president of the Kehillah Board, and Herr Kleemann, bank director. The liberals, representing the Reform Jewish element in the Council, protested against the decision and, declaring that they were not consulted on the matter before, left the hall, so that the decision might be invalid.
Dr. Freund explained that the Kehillah Board took the decision because it considered the question of the Jewish Agency as a matter affecting the fate of entire Jewry and the cultural interest of humanity.
