Editorials in the Hebrew press here demand that the actions committee of the World Zionist Organization to call an immediate session to consider what course to take in connection with government plans to form a legislative council in Palestine.
Although spokesmen for the Jewish Agency for Palestine informed the Jewish Telegraphic Agency a few days ago that High Commissioner Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope does not intend that the proposed council shall displace it, officials of the Jewish Agency revealed today that their body will meet soon to discuss the implications of the pending new governmental branch.
Jewish Palestine, generally speaking, views the project with an unfriendly eye, since it appears certain that a council of the sort planned would be controlled by a clear Arab-British majority, with Jews holding a minor place in its deliberations.
The Jewish Agency points out, however, that since it concerns itself chiefly with the questions of Jewish immigration and of land sales, the proposed legislative council, which by its nature would have no jurisdiction over these matters, would not impinge upon it to an important degree.
