An agricultural school for hill-farming will be established at Ein Kerem in Israel bearing the name of Allan Bronfman and family, it was announced last night at the 1959 Negev Dinner here attended by more than 1,500 persons.
The dinner was in honor of Mr. Bronfman for his efforts for Israel and particularly for his leadership of Canada’s celebration of Israel’s tenth anniversary. Rabbi Charles Bender, national chairman of the Jewish National Fund, which sponsored the dinner, presented Mr. Bronfman with a scroll in honor of his services.
The school will be located near Jerusalem and will cast about $600. 000. Half of this sum will be provided by the Government of Israel. A contribution of $200, 000 from Mr. Bronfman and proceeds from the dinner will cover the balance, Yigal Yadin, Israeli archaeologist and expert on the Dead Sea Scrolls, was principal guest speaker at the dinner.
