A glowing picture of the present prosperity of the Jewish collective farms in the Crimea is painted by Dr. Joseph Rosen, director of the Agro-Joint, following a return from a long tour of the region.
In an interview, Dr. Rosen Stated:
“During the past twelve years, ever since the Jews began their mass settlement on the land, their position has never been so good as it is now. The general well-being of the Jewish collective farmers is particularly striking today.
“Three kilograms of bread a day per person is usually considered quite a sufficient ration for a farmer in Russia. But this year every Jewish farmer in the larger collective farms in the Crimea received seven kilograms of grain a day and in addition ten rubles cash for every working day.”
