The Agrojoint, the agency of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, is preparing plans in connection with the newly allocated 109,000 hectares in Crmea, Dr. Joseph A. Rosen, head of the Agrojoint, stated in an interview with the representative of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
While he is not prepared to make a detailed statement, as the plans are not yet ready, he can say at this time that the land allocated is better than the allocations made before. The land previously alloted is in North Crimea, while the 109,000 hectares are in Central Crimea where the land is more fertile, he stated.
Regarding the present situation in the Jewish colonies, Dr. Rosen said it was not very good, owing to bad crops. Few transmigrants are leaving the land, however. Some seek temporary employment and will return to the fields in the spring. The Soviet government will furnish the settlers with enough seed for the new crop, Dr. Rosen declared.
