A demand that a commission composed of representatives of all Jewish orthodox organizations in the United States be sent to Palestine “to prevent the education of Jewish refugee children, on funds contributed by American Jews, in atheist colonies and educational institutions,” was voiced here at a press conference arranged by the Agudas Israel of America.
Leaders of the Agudas Israel emphasized that their organization will fight to secure a religious education for all Jewish refugee children brought to Palestine. A mass-meeting called by the Agudas Israel for February 19 will demand that the Jewish Agency for Palestine arrange that these children be given a traditional Jewish education, it was announced at the conference. The principal speakers included Jacob Resenheim, president of the Agudas Israel World Organization and Rabbi Eliahu-Meyer Bloch, prominent leader of religious Jewry.
