Agudah Council to Meet in Berlin on December 27

The Central Council of the Agudath Israel, Orthodox Jewish world organization, will open its session here on December 27.

One of the points on the agenda is the convocation of the second general congress of rabbis and Agudah leaders, known as the K’nessioh Gdollah. The first K’nessioh was held in Vienna in 1923 and it was decided to convene it again within five years.

One thousand young men representing twenty-eight temple clubs and Brotherhoods will hold a rally at the Hotel Astor on Sunday evening. December 18th, to celebrate the Festival of chanukah. Leaders of Reform Judaism, rabbis and laymen, will speak at the rally.

“Celebrating a great event in Jewish history, and having no other motive.” Rogel W. Straus, president of the National Federation of Temple Brotherhoods declared in making public plans for the dinner and rally, “this meeting will demonstrate that the spirit of the Maccabees fought the tyrants and oppressors of their time, we will ?gh! the tyranny of erases materialism and indifference which is striving to smother our religious fervor and love of the higher aspects of Jewish ## and ## in general.” Mr. Straus is cooperating in the plans for the dinner with a committee composed of Charles P. Kram## Jacques E. Zipser. Herman Epstein. Dr. Harold Korn, Sydney Davis, and I. Walter Godnick.

The film “King of Kings” was with drawn from the moving picture theatres in Drtroit. Mich following a protest. Bookings for the picture to run for several months in Detroit have been cancelled.

A gift of $15,000 was presented to the Leo N. Levi Memorila Hospital of Hot Springs. Ark by Louis M. Steinberg of St. Louis. The sum will go to ward the fund of the hospital to build a new clinic.
