Aid for Agriculture Asked of Zionist Council

Aid for Jewish agriculture was asked today at a meeting of the Zionist General Council by M. Suchovitzky, who emphasized the critical situation of farming. He also asked assistance for middle class groups. The council resumed its plenary sessions after meetings of committees last night.

Mr. Hartzfeld reported on new colonization activities. Stressing the heroism and self-sacrifice of Jewish pioneers who built settlements since the beginning of last year’s disturbances, he said more colonies would be built. He emphasized the necessity to strengthen the Jewish position in the Galilee.

Rabbi J.L. Fishman, of Mizrachi, spoke on organization problems. Menachem M. Ussishkin, president of the Jewish National Fund, reported on the status of Zionist banks. Isaac Gruenbaum discussed the budget of the Zionist Organization.
