Anti Semitism has made its appearance in the Alabama White Citizens Councils movement it became known today when it was learned that the North Alabama, Citizens Council, led by Ace Carter, a filling station operator, has adopted as a membership requirement the “belief in the divinity of Jesus Christ.”

One result of the injection of anti-Semitism into the movement has been a split between Carter and State Sen. Sam Englehardt, one of the founders and executive secretary of the Alabama White Citizens Councils. Prior to this split the two men shared speakers platforms at several meetings opposing desegregation of Alabama schools.
