Alderman John J. Glass, member-elect to the provincial parliament from St. Andrews Riding, appeared before the town council of Long Branch at its last meeting to discuss the discriminatory signs displayed in the park reading “No Jews Allowed,” and stated before the council that the nature of the sign is an insult to the township.
Alderman Glass also emphasized that at the next sitting of the legislature he will introduce a bill to make illegal the display of such and similar signs on beaches, parks, hotels, summer resorts and any other places where the public may have access, notwithstanding the character of ownership.
After listening to him the council decided to interview the owners of the park and ask them to remove the objectionable signs.
